Culinary skills tested at accounting event for schools

15 June 2021 | Students News

An Amazing Race, lolly cake making, and speed dating were all part of the Count Me In Schools Day for accounting secondary students last week on campus.

Pupils from Ashburton College, Hillmorton High School, Avonside Girls’ High School and Middleton Grange School attended the event, which introduced students to aspects of accounting careers through a series of fun engaging activities.

One of these was “Lully Licios”, which involved thinking through the process of making a product, specifically lolly cake. In speed dating, students spoke Lincoln accounting graduates about their careers and heard from staff about university study and the opportunities it can offer.

The Amazing Race pitted the pupils against each other on computers in the library.

The schools were welcomed by Lincoln University Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Bruce McKenzie, and there was a pizza lunch and a range of spot prizes.

The event was hosted by the Department of Financial and Business Systems.
