DOC scholarship helps Annalise connect with outdoor enthusiasts

07 March 2022 | News

The Department of Conservation Parks and Outdoor Recreation scholarship programme has helped Annalise Graham to connect with other like-minded students.

The scholarship is for students who are enrolled in a Parks and Outdoor Recreation Major as part of their Lincoln University bachelor's degree.

"Sport is a big part of my life, which motivated me to learn more about it by doing the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management," Annalise said. "Being in the outdoors is also one of my passions which is why I decided the major would best suit me.

"The scholarship has helped me to make connections with other students and staff who have the same interests and passions as I do.

"My future goal once I complete my studies is to become an outdoor education teacher."

Growing up in Kaikoura on a sheep and beef farm, she was drawn to Lincoln due to her rural background and the university's inviting and friendly culture.

"I heard about the scholarship while choosing my major and was encouraged by many of the Lincoln staff to apply for it. The staff involved with the scholarship are very friendly and have helped me with my queries surrounding my studies."

Applications for the $5000 scholarship close on 31 March.
