Lincoln's support services on display

Support, virtual reality, and a free sausage. The library was bustling with students new and old as staff showcased what they had to offer.
More than 500 students ventured to Ivey Hall — Lincoln’s library building — and took a stamp card to be part of the Learning, Teaching and Library (LTL) Open Day. The event offered 12 activity stations showcasing services and resources on offer to Lincoln students.
Students could watch objects be 3D printed, try on a virtual reality headset, and learn how to get help with their studies.
Education Media set up a greenscreen photo booth alongside its VR demonstration. Students could have some fun and find out about the Video Lab — a soundproof space available for recording multi-media assessments.
Video Assistant – Education MaCaulay Quinn said there had been a lot of people coming to take fun group shots on the greenscreen, but what surprised him was how many returning students were interested in their facilities. Many wished they had taken advantage of what was on offer sooner, he said.
Another popular station was the Match the Staff Member to their Pet activity, which had 116 guesses by the end of the day.
More than half the students returned with their cards stamped, claiming free sausages and entries into prize draws. Extra sausages were also given out to hungry students to make sure none went to waste.
