Patience pays off for Anita

26 January 2022 | News

Anita Santosh Gowda has some advice for graduates seeking their dream role - it might be necessary to take on another job first, but work hard and make contacts, and you will succeed.

Anita, from India, has just completed her Master of Professional Accounting (CPA) at Lincoln University, and secured her new role as a financial accountant with NXP (National Express Product) in Auckland after initially working as a packer at the company.

“Once people know you and your work, they will be happy to help you.”

She chose to attend Lincoln University as it is the only Registered Tuition Provider to offer the Certified Practising Accountant Australia Approved integrated course in Aotearoa New Zealand.

“It is also the only university which was offering two courses at the same time, a master’s degree with a professional degree," she said.

I have eight years of work experience in accounting and finance, and it is my passion, and I wanted to get a master’s degree.”

She enjoyed thebeautiful buildings and spacious rooms” on campus and using the LU Gym, and had special praise for the on-campus Postgrad Space where she could study until late.

There were a lot of course options, very supportive and helpful lecturers and staff, a host of events and activities, job fairs, and games and quizzes that she enjoyed participating in.

She described Lincoln as beautiful, calm, and unspoiled and recommended that other students choose to study in New Zealand “as it is a very beautiful country to live”.
