22 April 2022 | News

The latest episode of the Influencers@Lincoln podcast examines if training at altitude can alter your physiology, letting you hold onto its positive effects.

The podcast is dedicated to highlighting Lincoln research, and in the newest edition host Dr Hafsa Ahmed speaks to Professor Mike Hamlin, from the Department of Tourism Sport & Society.

Professor Michael specialises in the effects of human physiology and is an expert on altitude/hypoxic training.

He discusses how he came to his area of expertise, and issues around altitude training, such as how long its benefits last, and acclimatisation for teams such as the All Blacks when they play at altitude.

His work in sport and exercise has application to recovery techniques post-surgery, combating diabetes, cancer and understanding concussion.
