What you will learn

After successfully completing this course, you’ll be able to:

  1. Understand the structure and roles within the facilities management industry and be familiar with common practices, contracts and legislation such as the Building Act and Code, Fire Evacuation Regulations and disabled access requirements.
  2. Critically analyse options in terms of form, function, materials, performance and delivery methods for large-scale buildings, their services and maintenance.
  3. Familiarise yourself with the technical aspects of common building materials, components and services to enable judgements to be made on their performance and maintenance implications.
  4. The ability to effectively communicate with service providers, consultants and other professionals.
