Doris Swadling Scholarship

This scholarship is offered to students who presently reside in the Taranaki Province and wish to pursue a programme of study that will be useful for their farming pursuits.

Public Trust is Trustee of the Estate of Doris Elizabeth Geraldine Swadling. The Trust was established following Miss Swadling's death on the 22nd of June 1960. Under her Will, the residue of the estate is to be held in perpetuity to provide Scholarships, Bursaries or other assistance to students who presently reside in the Taranaki Province and who wish to become farmers, in order to obtain further education or training in the kind of knowledge or skills which should be useful for them in farming pursuits.

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants should be studying agriculture and plan to undertake a career in farming.
  • Applicants should be presently permanently living within the region administered by the Taranaki Regional Council including New Plymouth, Hawera, Waitara, Stratford, Inglewood, Eltham, Opunake, Patea - at the time of submitting the application.

  • Applicants must be under 21 years old

Applications are open online during September annually at Doris Elizabeth Geraldine Swadling Scholarship - Public Trust, with scholarships being awarded for the following year.
