Father and son recreate magic moment

04 October 2022 | News

The recent Lincoln University Graduation Celebration was a special occasion for ecology lecturer Mike Bowie and son Ben.

Mike graduated from Lincoln 25 years ago with a Master of Applied Science degree, and he held Ben as a baby when he posed for a picture in his regalia on the day.

A quarter of a century later, they recreated the scene in reverse when former basketball scholar Ben, who graduated with his own Master’s degree and is now two metres tall, picked up Dad.

It may have been a tall order to replicate the original.

There were other special occasions based around Graduation too, with Sports Scholars and Future Leader Scholars who had received their degrees this year recognised in a joint ceremony the day before.

They were presented with a certificate by Vice-Chancellor Professor Grant Edwards at the annual event to recognise their time at Lincoln as scholars, as well as their achievements and contribution to the university.
