Entrepreneurship and innovation involve thinking outside the box and doing things differently — that’s what this major is all about.
Learn how to maximise your entrepreneurial spirit by cultivating practical knowledge and critical thinking skills through imagination and creativity. You’ll be well-prepared prepared to tackle some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most significant issues and become ready to take on whatever the global digital economy has to offer.
Self-starters are sorely needed in New Zealand. This modern approach to business education will put you in the right position to start your own business, develop a new product, connect with business experts, pioneer corporate innovation, and lead market changes.
How you'll grow
- Become a forward-thinking innovator with the skills to start your own business and succeed in a dynamic global economy
- Develop an understanding of key concepts and practice in entrepreneurship and innovation, such as idea generation, opportunity recognition and business planning
- Learn how to solve problems using critical thinking and make socially responsibly business decisions
- Gain practical experience in market research and customer engagement while learning academic theory, such as psychology and consumer behaviour
- Think outside the box and develop your sense of imagination, exploration, creation, and reflection.
Career opportunities
Graduates will be well-prepared to start their own business or work in business-orientated roles such as development, innovation management, venture capital and consulting. They could also pursue opportunities in wider fields such as technology commercialisation, social entrepreneurship, and graduate research.
Programme structure
The Bachelor of Commerce (Entrepreneurship and Innovation major) is a three-year Bachelor’s degree with 120 credits (8 courses) each year of full-time study. The programme is designed to progressively develop knowledge and skills in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, from introductory to advanced level.
